Why is there a need for a Health Care Concentration within the Executive MBA program?

The EMBA offers an opportunity for people concerned with health care issues to complete graduate study leading to an MBA degree while retaining their professional affiliations.

Health care is one of the fastest growing industries today. The field needs leadership from those who can integrate clinical knowledge with business knowledge. Neither clinical expertise nor business expertise alone can contribute most effectively to solving the myriad of problems related to health care issues today.

Participants recruited into the EMBA-Health Care Concentration have clinical expertise or equivalent experience. During the first year of the program, they receive a grounding in fundamental business concepts and develop the tools they need to be effective decision makers. In the second year, they concentrate on the application of these concepts and tools to the health care field.

Participants in the program are mature, highly motivated individuals who share as a cohort the experiences of the program. Since they come from different backgrounds, they can build upon the collective experience of their classmates.

What is provided as part of the program fee?

The Executive MBA program provides all books and materials necessary for completion of every course. Many services are provided directly to participants so that they do not use valuable time standing in line for registration, or getting parking permits.

Participants have access to University computer facilities, the library, bookstore, and all other facilities. The current program fee for the entire 21-month program is $38,000.

We recognize that spouses, significant others, children and friends provide important support to participants in the EMBA program. This group will be included in special activities and social programs.

Will participants be given individualized attention?

Each Executive MBA class is limited in size. This assures that there is ample opportunity for interaction between the professor, speakers, and class members both during class hours and during class breaks.
