FORMS
Application
for Intra-University Transfer( Also Available in Advising Office)
Application for Double-Degree (Available in
Advising Office). Students who want to complete a second degree in another
college (e.g., Harpur or Watson) or to transfer to another college with
BU must complete and submit this form to the BU Admissions Office.
Application
for Undergraduate Degree (online form) - In order to graduate
and receive a diploma, a student must submit this form to the Office of
the University Registrar (Student Services Wing - Room 199) by the Drop
Deadline of the semester prior to the one in which the student plans to
complete his/her requirements for graduation. Check
the Academic Calendar for the submission deadline.
Closed
Course Petition (PDF)- Students willing to enroll in a closed
course must complete and submit this form to the SOM Undergraduate Advising
Office.
General
Academic Petition (Available in Advising Office) - Used for
requesting exceptions to academic regulations.
Independent
Study Agreement (Also Available in Advising Office) - Contract between
Student, Faculty Advisor and Director of Undergraduate Advising describing
the purpose/learning objectives of the student's independent study, the
intended methods to achieve such objectives and the means the faculty
supervisor will use to evaluate the completion of such objectives. Must
be submitted along with a completed Variable Coursework Registration Form. Note: senior status, faculty and SOM
administration approval are prerequisites for an independent study.
Late
Add/Drop Petition (Available in Advising Office) - Use this
petition to request an add or drop after the published deadlines. Check
the Academic Calendar for the Drop/Add deadline.
Petition
to Take Courses at Another University (Available in Advising
Office)- In order to receive SOM credit for courses taken at another institution,
students must first obtain SOM approval. Remember to complete and submit
this form before you enroll in any course at another institution
- otherwise, you may not receive SOM credit.
Practicum
in College Teaching (Available
in Advising Office) - Contract between Student, Faculty Advisor and Director
of Undergraduate Advising describing the learning and learning objectives
of the student's practicum in college teaching, the intended methods to
achieve such objectives and the means the faculty supervisor will use
to evaluate the completion of such objectives. Must be submitted along
with a completed Variable

Note: senior status, faculty and SOM administration approval are prerequisites
for an independent study.
Overload
Petition (Available in Advising Office) - Use this petition
to request approval if you would like to take more than 18 credits in
a given semester.
Variable
Credit Coursework Registration Form (PDF) - Students who want
to register for an independent study, practicum in college teaching, or
other variable credit course must complete and submit this form along
with any other necessary forms or contracts to the SOM Undergraduate Advising
Office.
INFORMATION SHEETS:
DARS
- How to read a DARS report - Your DARS report shows the degree
requirements for your declared major and shows the progress you have made
to date towards completing those requirements. For the SOM, the report
is separated into several parts, each showing different aspects of the
graduation requirements. This information sheet explains all aspects of
a DARS report.
Concentrations
- SOM student must choose one concentration from the list below. Click
on the links below to view and/or print the PDF information sheet for
a concentration. This information is also available online in the Concentrations
section of this website.
Non-Intro
Courses - All SOM undergraduates are required to complete a minimum
of three non-introductory liberal arts courses. A Harpur College course
is considered non-introductory if, according to the Binghamton University
Undergraduate Bulletin, it meets one of the four criteria outlined in
this information sheet.
Internships
- The SOM encourages students to seek internship experience. Students
wishing to receive academic credit for internships must follow the procedures
outlined in the documents below:
