Concentrations

Students in the BS in Management degree program are encouraged to complete one or more concentrations in the functional areas of management. Each concentration requires three courses beyond the introductory (311) course in that area. If you are uncertain about which concentration to pursue, allow yourself time to take the introductory courses in the various concentration areas before deciding. Faculty teaching in the academic areas can be very helpful to you in exploring these fields. Declaration of a concentration is usually done during the junior year, but may be done anytime prior to graduation and may be easily changed by visiting the SOM Advising Office. College teaching pracitca (491) internships (495), and independent study (497) do not fulfill concentration requirements.

In addition to the concentrations listed above, the SOM also offers a program in East Asian and Management Studies. This is a cross-disciplinary program involving courses in Harpur and SOM, available also to all BU students. This is not a concentration, but can usually be completed as part of a Global Management concentration.
